expect Maryland to have another strong season
Maryland 2004
Despite all the graduation losses, I see no reason to feel that Maryland is going to be down. Any team that starts with a cadre that include Noah Palmer in goal, Clarence Goodson, Kenney Bertz, and Chris Lancos on the back line, Ian Rodway and Michael Dello-Russo in the midfield, and Jason Garey, Dom Mediate, Abe Thompson, and Erwin Diaz up front, is not a team that I am going to be worried about.
I disagree slightly with Terpfan in that I think King will have a decent shot at starting in the midfield. That is where the heaviest graduation losses have come (Sumed Ibrahim, Scott Buete, A.J. Herrera); in addition to Rodway and Dello-Russo, they also have Jason Arnold back and he can go at either forward or midfield, but with the loss of playmakers like Buete, Marcantonio, etc, I am wondering if Sasho may have to consider moving Mediate back to the midfield. Either way, King and the other midfield recruit, Kevin Reiman from Yorktown Heights, NY will get a long look at that position.
Sasho is all set at forward and in goal and has a couple of bruisers coming in at defender: Keith Vereb from Bowie, MD and Eric Brunner of Columbus, OH, but with the guys he has coming back, won't be forced to play them immediately, can bring them along patiently.
Nope, it ain't over in College Park yet.
