Aston Villa manager David O'Leary says there will not be any new signings at the club this month.

With the Midlanders still awaiting developments regarding a takeover at Villa Park, the uncertainty is not helping O'Leary to improve his squad.

Chairman Doug Ellis has stressed there will not be any cash made available for recruits and the manager backed up this view.

With Lee Hendrie being strongly linked with a move to Portsmouth, the Villa boss was also quick to deny there would be any outgoings either.

"As the chairman has stated, there will be nobody coming into this club, financially or probably loan-wise," he told Sky Sports News. "So there's no activity for us in this window.

"I can't believe I hear all these rumours when the chairman has said and it's been stated in the papers that nothing will be happening at this club.

"We keep getting this speculation [such as with Robert Huth of Chelsea] but I don't think we can make it any clearer.

"I've got to get on with it," he sighed. "And accept anything. When you work for whatever chairman, he's the boss and you go along with what he has to say.
