2. EXAM TIME: Costa Rican striker Erick Scott, who has been obtained on loan by MLS on behalf of the Columbus Crew, was in San Jose last week to play for Alajuela against the Quakes in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals.
Scott played most of the match, which the Quakes won, 1-0, and during his visit to San Jose he also underwent a physical exam so his loan move could be finalized.
Unless registered by the closing of the MLS transfer window Wednesday, he wouldn't be able to play in the league until the window re-opens in the summer. By so registering, he'll be ineligible to play for Alajuela even though the club retains control of his rights. The loan includes an option to buy.
5. SITTERS: Columbus Crew Stadium has been named for U.S. home qualifiers June 13 and Nov. 17. If the U.S. gets past Grenada in June, it will play its final game in the semifinal phase at Crew Stadium in November. ... Iran will play the Galaxy at the Rose Bowl next month and a match at RFK Stadium against Guatemala is also in the works. ... A sellout is expected Wednesday at Home Depot Center when Mexico plays Costa Rica.
