2. GREAT SCOTT? MLS has finalized an agreement with Costa Rican striker Erick Scott, who scored a goal Wednesday night as Alajuela thrashed San Jose, 3-0, in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Scott will play on loan with Columbus as a transitional international, so he will not count against the limit of three senior internationals per team. He turns 23 in May.
Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid had inquired about Scott in January, but changed gears when Carlos Ruiz's loan deal fell through and U.S. international Jovan Kirovksi became available.
Scott is a member of both the Olympic and national teams. He scored twice in last month's CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers and played last summer in the Gold Cup. He also played for Costa Rica at the 2001 World Youth Championship and scored a pair of goals.
The Confidential learned of the Scott deal two weeks ago but under a gentleman's agreement held the information until it appeared in the Costa Rican press this week.
