Keeper eyes loan move
Keeper Steve Harper has revealed he is keen to leave Newcastle on loan - with two Championship clubs ready for a New Year raid.
The Magpies stopper is desperate for a taste of senior action after playing second fiddle to Shay Given on Tyneside.
United boss Graeme Souness has ruled out allowing his deputy to leave ahead of the busy festive period, but Harper believes January will herald his departure.
He told The Journal: "I would love to go on loan. I would love to go for a month and play half-a-dozen games but it just is not possible at the moment.
"With the Christmas period coming up, we have a game every few days and the club don't want to let me go. After Christmas, I will be asking the manager again because I want to go.
"There are a couple of clubs interested and I think I will go to the Championship. I need games to get myself up to speed again. I train every day but I want to go out on loan somewhere to get some games."
