6 years is much to harsh....if the referee had been hurt, then that would be a different story.
Deco faces action after boot incident
LISBON, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Porto playmaker Deco Souza faces disciplinary proceedings and a possible lengthy suspension over allegedly kicking one of his boots at a referee who had sent him off in a league match.
Brazilian-born Deco, the driving force behind Porto's league championship and UEFA Cup wins last season, was handed an automatic one-match league suspension after he was sent off for a second bookable offence in a 1-0 local-derby win over Boavista on Monday.
But the Portuguese Football League have also begun a probe into charges of aggression, A Bola said, which may be punishable by a suspension of between six months and four years.
Portuguese sports papers ran photographs showing a left boot striking referee Paulo Paraty while the nearby Deco wore only a sock on his left foot.
Porto will also have to play without Deco in their Champions League home tie against Olympique Marseille on November 4, as the 26-year-old midfielder has picked up three yellow cards in the tournament.
Porto currently lie second in Group F, just one point ahead of Marseille and two ahead of Partizan Belgrade in the race to qualify for the Champions League second phase.
