Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd has signed Aston Villa youngster Gabriel Agbonlahor on loan.

The 18-year-old arrives at Vicarage Road as attacking cover, with The Hornets without the services of on-loan forward Marlon King and Darius Henderson through injury.

The Championship high-flyers have already brought in Trevor Benjamin on loan from Peterborough United and they have decided to further boost their frontline by offering Agbonlahor the opportunity of first team football.

The England Under-20 international, who signed a two-year deal with Villa in the summer, admitted a loan spell away from the Premiership outfit would be in his best interests.

"I played a lot of academy and reserve football last season but I need first team experience," Agbonlahor told Villa's official website.
