Stadium delayed to 2009
The METROSTARS' HARRISON STADIUM PROJECT was declared "dead" by New Jersey Senate
president and soon to be acting governor Richard Codey because Hudson County had
refused to issue some $90 million in bonds. Peter Higgins, director of the
Harrison Redevelopment Authority, however, called it a temporary setback and
said the city is still pursing a $120 million, 25,000-seat stadium for the
MetroStars, who are also in talks regarding a new stadium in East
Rutherford.
